Eldon Park began as a weekend retreat for Melbourne couple Don and Elizabeth Byrne and their family. Don Byrne, a medical practitioner, had a long-held interest in racing and a passion for pedigrees that needed exercising.

The beautiful Mornington Peninsula property provided the perfect venue. Their first mare Across The Wind was purchased on a trip to Ireland in 1979 and so, from humble beginnings, Eldon Park has slowly developed from a hobby farm to a seriously commercial thoroughbred stud.

We welcome your mares and their progeny in 2006 and assure you of the utmost care managed by our well assisted team of enthusiastic horsemen and women. As is only possible on a smaller stud farm, our team is personally involved in all stages of your horse’s care, from delivering your foal to calling you with the good news.
